Wick

The thin air doesn’t bother me as I run for the cargo bay. I hum a little tune absently as I go. Even though the steady use of air should slow me down or make me dizzy, the song seems to focus my will and make me even stronger.

When I reach the door two big Reapers are there checking out the security panel and double reinforced hinges. There’s no cheating on this door. If you don’t have the codes or a blow torch to take out the moorings, you can’t get in.

Unless you tear it apart with your bare hands.

And that’s exactly what I intend to do.

I run at the door, roaring. The other two guys dive out of the way as I launch myself at it, hitting it with my shoulder. My first hit doesn’t make a noticeable impression, but I felt the metal weaken to me, even on the first hit.

So, I just start smashing it.

I use my feet, alternate with ramming it with my shoulder and smashing it with my fists. Before long I can feel the metal buckling under my fists, and this gives me the encouragement I need to hit it even harder.

It’s almost as if my screams are having an impact on the door. My amusement rises as the smallest of holes start to appear. I’m not even wearing down my bone spurs.

Tearing through the door, I shriek in triumph. The pitch of my voice is loud enough to shatter glass. I hear things exploding inside of crates as I roar my satisfaction into the hold.

I hope they are fucking terrified!

They are. The scent on the wind is intoxicating.

As Reapers charge in behind me, I take to the crowd. I love a good bloodbath and this one is starting with the kind of frenzy I really like. Hot, frightened humans run in ridiculous circles, every moment of fear making them smell even better.

I can’t wait to eat one. I’m so fucking hungry.

I slash out with my hands and take down a couple without even trying. This pisses me off because I want live food and I didn’t mean to kill them. Before I can think another one charges me, and I rip his head off without thinking. As his blood coats me I let out my long tongue and lick it up from his neck.

There’s a female nearby and I zero in on her. I grab her by the shoulders, lifting her and bringing her close to my face. Eyes closing in ecstasy I open my mouth and clamp my teeth into her upper arm. She screams and struggles desperately but I just hold her even tighter and close my teeth, tearing a huge chunk out of her arm and chewing in pleasure.

Wait a minute.

My eyes snap open as I swallow the tasty chunk of flesh. This is familiar, this scent, this taste.

Smells like a strawberry… Tastes like one too. Nice and juicy.

But my strawberry is back in my fucking room!

The rage haze leaves my eyes.
